Natural Rehab Guide
Have you considered a natural rehab for you or your loved one? Check out our guide below to learn more about natural rehab, their effectiveness and what you can expect if you enroll.
What is natural rehab?
A popular buzzword in drug and alcohol addiction treatment is “natural” treatment. Natural rehabs are extremely popular among celebrity clients and executives because they provide an holistic approach to drug and alcohol detox and treatment that is personalized. Toxin-free, the focus is on abstinence and flushing the drugs and alcohol out of your system methodically throughout your treatment. The variety of psychotherapeutic options is usually vast and runs the gamut from holistic therapies that include acupuncture and meditation to exploratory therapies like psychodrama and adventure ropes courses.
How is natural rehabilitation different from other rehabs?
Most rehabs don’t provide the same dedication to a toxin-free recovery experience that you will usually find at a natural rehab. For example, a drug detox at a natural rehab is unlikely to be augmented by medications of any kind. They do not treat the toxin overload that is drug addiction by introducing new toxins into the body. Rather, they prefer to “naturally” flush the toxins from the system with organic food, lots of water and medical monitoring to ensure safety, and detox is a continued process throughout treatment.
Are natural rehab programs as effective as traditional rehabs?
Absolutely. In fact, many traditional rehabs don’t believe that you are truly clean and sober until you are off all potentially addictive medications—including prescription drugs prescribed for pain or anxiety and long-term opiate detox or maintenance drugs like methadone or Suboxone. Though they condone the use of the medications for a time, abstinence is the goal of traditional treatment as well. Natural rehab just opts for a route to that same destination that is much quicker because it requires complete abstinence immediately.
What can I expect at a natural rehab treatment center?
At a natural rehab, you can expect an holistic approach to drug and alcohol addiction treatment and detox. Attention is paid to all levels of effect of drug addiction, including the spiritual, mental/ psychological, physical and physical. Available in both residential inpatient programs and outpatient day treatment programs, natural rehabs generally require that you be clean and sober for a certain period of time before entering. Those that don’t have this requirement may not provide medications to ease withdrawal symptoms during detox.
