Alcohol and Drug Screening

When entering a rehab facility, an alcohol and drug screening is often conducted to understand any substances playing a part in the client’s addiction. This allows the qualified staff to draw up an action plan to treat that substance (detoxification and pharmaceuticals), while programs (such as 12-steps, psychotherapy, family counseling, extensive talk therapy, peer support groups, one-on-ones, and relapse and prevention strategies) work on the inside. These screenings may also occur randomly throughout care to monitor the client’s drug dependency and ensure the patient is adhering to the facility’s no-tolerance rule on drugs and alcohol.
