Another rising star crashes to a tragic end. It’s been confirmed that “Glee” star Cory Monteith died from mixing heroin and alcohol, a toxic mixture, according to the British Columbia Coroners Service.

Monteith had been open about his addiction, admitting that he’s struggled with substance abuse since age 13. He’d been in and out of rehab, his last stint being this last March. Because Monteith always seemed cheerful and put together (coming to set prepared, always knowing his lines) as well as his willingness to actually seek out help, his death comes as even more of a shock—he was not one of those celebrities who seemed like he was in immediate danger. Only 31 years old, Monteith’s early death will be mourned by loved ones and fans alike.
