Friends and family aren’t the only one who are in a position to reach out and help someone is living with alcoholism or drug addiction. If you are part of a business team, you co-worker can be a trusted ally, partner and friend. So when they become dependent upon drugs and alcohol, there is a natural desire to reach out and lend them a helping hand.
You work as part of a team. When one member of the team is not performing up to his or her full potential it effects the performance of the entire group. Perhaps the most important benefit of co-worker addiction treatment is saving a life – but there are also business considerations to think about. Your co-worker has experience and knowledge that is hard to duplicate. By conducting a drug rehab intervention and getting them into an addiction treatment program, you are helping them regain their maximum potential.
There are three main components to every proper alcohol treatment or drug program: detox, counseling and aftercare. Each one of these three processes plays a significant role in the overall recovery of the individual.
If you suspect that your co-worker is suffering from alcoholism, the sooner you reach out to help them the better. If you feel comfortable with the individual on a personal level, you may want to talk to them privately and let them know they have your support. If that doesn’t work (or is not an option) you may wish to call together other members of the team and hold an intervention. A drug or alcohol intervention is one of the most effective ways to help someone realize the seriousness of their condition – and get them into a qualified alcohol rehab program.
